Category: Growth story, because going from a newbie to a master takes time
Setting:
I. Background. A country has been invaded, and its native inhabitants have been forced to become tools and playthings for the colonizers. To intimidate the natives, the invaders select one person from each profession every year to take part in an escape game. The profession of each survivor will receive privileges for the next year, and the survivor will enjoy a life of comfort for the rest of their days.
The worldbuilding is inspired by The Hunger Games.
II. Supervisors.
1. The roster is mostly fixed, but the supervisor with the lowest win rate each year will be erased. The win rate is a weighted score based on regular matches and finals.
2. It is said that winning the championship year after year can earn you freedom.
III. Survivors.
1. Regular matches. The players' souls enter the game, so injuries and deaths do not actually affect whether they live or die. However, their condition in the real world will be affected by the outcome and any injuries they suffer. Examples include fever, broken bones, colds, and bleeding wounds.
Warning! In theory, these injuries will not cause death, but piling one injury on top of another could still put your life in danger!
2. Finals. Players enter in person, and elimination is by death. The game ends when fewer than four survivors remain.
3. Practice matches. These are like playing against computer-controlled opponents. They only use up stamina, cause no real injuries, and award no points.
4. Unknown.
IV. Points exchange system.
1. Supervisors must use points to exchange for their monthly food supply. Survivors get food for free.
2. Both supervisors and survivors must use points to exchange for weapons, medicine, and other items.
The items and quantities survivors can bring are determined by the game's rules.
Theme: United, we stand strong.
