The modern version of Mu Nianci and Yang Kang is interspersed with the love story of Mu Guiying and Yang Zongbao.
The former is a fan novel, the relationship remains basically unchanged, and the fate follows the original arrangement, but the modern atmosphere makes their acquaintance take a completely new path. Although the end point is still separation between life and death, the scenery passing by has changed. Maybe this is my preference, focusing on the process rather than the ending. Since the ending is nothing more than a few limited choices, the process becomes even more important. As for me, I have never disliked Yang Kang since I was a child (I don't even understand why), so Yang Kang in the novel cannot be considered a bad guy.
As for the latter, I thought I had read the vernacular novel "Yang Family General", and my understanding of the historical facts of the love between Yang Zongbao and Mu Guiying was pretty good. At least it was much better than many current TV series that cannot stand up to scrutiny. Having said that, I still borrowed the name of one of Mu Guiying's maids from Zhang Zhiyao and the quiet version of Mu Yang - Jiang Cuiping. Because there is no record of this character in the history books, I don't know his name, and I am too lazy to choose a new name, haha.
In fact, I really want to write a sequel. The fanfic part will be dedicated to Yang Guo and Guo Fu, and the Yang family general part may be written about Yang Wenguang and Princess Baihua, or maybe just about Yang Zongbao's death in battle. Unfortunately, it is still only the beginning.
