The Lin Family's Heir in Dream of the Red Chamber

[Announcement: Going VIP on February 25, 2021. There will be ten thousand words on the first day. Writing is hard, so please support the official release~]

As for updates, the story currently updates every other day.

Lin Ruhai was past forty, with children of his own, but his three-year-old son died unexpectedly.

Then his principal wife fell ill, unable to bear the blow.

After much deliberation, Lin Ruhai adopted a child from a collateral branch of the Lin family, within the fifth degree of mourning kinship.

Lin Yao transmigrated one day and got a System. Before he could show off his abilities, he was adopted.

And the father who adopted him turned out to be Lin Ruhai, who died while in office in Dream of the Red Chamber.

Important: An adopted son here means a child adopted into the family, not the son of a second wife!

One more important point: Some readers have said the child is an heir, so let me clarify. An heir and an adopted son are different.

An heir is the son of one's full brother, adopted to carry on one's family line. He must be the child of a full brother, not a younger relative from a collateral branch.

An adopted son is a close relative from the same clan, within the fifth degree of mourning kinship, taken in after the heads of both families agree, to carry on the family line.

The biggest difference is that an adopted son need not be related through a full brother. Any relative within the fifth degree of mourning kinship may be adopted.
