Hu Yijiu is the last mountain god since the founding of the country.
As a mountain god, he was born with the duty of protecting the spirits on his mountain. Other mountain gods might go their whole lives without seeing a single supernatural creature, but his little backwater mountain has four of them, all still unformed and crying for food. Each one can swallow a whole cow.
To keep the little spirits fed, Hu Yijiu works four jobs a month and is so poor he's nearly bald.
Then one day, he discovers he's in a CEO romance novel. He's the substitute destined to become a sacrificial pawn after the CEO's white moonlight returns.
But he isn't sad at all.
Because during his three years as a substitute, he'll get free room and board, a fixed monthly salary, and, once the white moonlight returns, a one-time payout of ten million!
Ten million is enough to feed him and his little spirits for the rest of their lives.
Could there possibly be a better deal?
For the sake of the four little cubs on his mountain, the poor little mountain god, nearly bald from poverty, decides to go for it.
