Bringing a General Store Back to the Seventies

I'm sorry. There's been trouble at home, and Lao Hu is emotionally and physically exhausted. I can't manage to publish this, so updates are on hold. I don't know when they'll resume. Blurb One Whenever the villagers of Wuli Tun talk about the Lin family, they say how pitiful they are. The eldest son, a company commander, has gone missing. The second son, who always came first in his class, had to quit school. The third son, perfectly healthy until recently, suddenly became paralyzed on one side. The only one still going strong is the biased Old Madam Lin, who gives her eldest daughter-in-law and little granddaughter no end of trouble. Now word is that the old woman has starved Little Rice Cake again. They have sorghum buns, but she refuses to give the girl any. The poor child is so hungry she's sleep-talking: "Mommy, my tummy's full of White Rabbit candies! Burp~" Word is the old woman has sent Little Rice Cake out to collect cow dung in the rain again. The poor girl is shivering with cold and babbling nonsense: "Mommy, black pepper steak is super yummy! Burp~" Little Rice Cake has a secret. She doesn't know what a general store is, but she knows that there she can trade the wild shepherd's purse, dandelion greens, red amaranth, and water dropwort she digs up herself for White Rabbit candies, mango-flavored milk tablets, compressed biscuits... and all sorts of wonderful things she's never seen or tasted before. Blurb Two In the year 2170, the Ji family parents die in a black hole explosion, leaving their newly seven-year-old son, Ji Yao, to look after the family general store. But the White Rabbit candies in the store are disappearing right before his eyes. Someone has taken a bite out of the bland calcium-enriched nutrition bars, and the artificial bread, loaded with industrial sweetener, has two little tooth marks in it... He suspects a thief has broken into the store, and that the thief is equipped with special camouflage! Then one day, he sees a little girl who calls herself "Little Rice Cake" and is left dumbstruck. Her little basket is full of fresh, dewy wild shepherd's purse. Ji Yao swallows hard. ****Lao Hu has tons of completed novels, all packed with chapters**** "The Three-and-a-Half-Year-Old Gnome": A gnome baby's observations of humanity "Marrying the Coal Boss": He really does own a mine "Back to When My Ex-Husband Had Just Died": A contractor's daily life raising a child "Spring River Enters the Old Year": A stern scholar's journey to pampering his wife "Transmigrated as the Short, Dark-Skinned Younger Sister of the Heroine": An older factory worker's comeback story Theme: A celebration of people's love for family and life
