Jiang Banxia has the worst luck: she transmigrates into the role of the young villain's wicked wife. During their exile, the original owner steals their travel money and runs away with another man, only to be bitten by a venomous snake and die without treatment.
When Jiang Banxia opens her eyes, she's already in a hellish situation. Her limbs are numb, the blood in her body has grown sluggish, and she's getting colder by the moment. Driven by a powerful will to survive, she begs the villain for help, but he presses a sharp, icy blade to her neck.
“Stupid, wicked, selfish, greedy for wealth and status, faithless, shameless, afraid of death. Jiang Banxia, you deserve to die!” The villainous big shot glares at her coldly, merciless and cruel.
To save her own life, Jiang Banxia shuts her eyes and steels herself. She has to get on her knees. “I was wrong. Save my life, and I swear I'll be a good person from now on.”
When she wakes again, Jiang Banxia looks at the drafty, leaky shack with no proper walls and decides to make the best of things. She takes the villain up the mountains and down to the river, catching fish and hunting game, clearing land and planting crops...
From having absolutely nothing from the start, without a penny to her name, they gradually build a better life and become the richest family around.
Eventually, the villain rises to power, is cleared of all charges, returns to the capital to receive his title and rewards, and becomes the glorious prime minister of the court.
Thinking of the villainous big shot's terrible fate in the original story, Banxia decides to bow out now that her work is done and divorce him to save her life.
The villainous big shot gives her a cold smile and brandishes the dagger in his hand. “Jiang Banxia, choose one: die or stay with me.”
