The first time Wen Yu met Xu Chen, the boy was being kept outside the classroom while a girl blushed and confessed her feelings to him.

He smiled, his eyes crinkling, his voice clear and gentle.

Xu Chen was top of the grade, never dated early, and never skipped class. With excellent grades and a polite, modest manner, he was every girl's ideal.

Everyone knew he was so pure he was spotless.

Later, on a snowy night, Wen Yu stood at the entrance to an alley and watched Xu Chen, his face dark, acting with a wild and cruel ferocity.

In a deep, narrow alley, the boy's pale face has a small bruise, and there's blood at the corner of his mouth.

"Now nobody will dare bully you."

Ji Wanwan sees an emotion in his eyes that she's never seen before, dark and ruthless. She presses her lips together and instinctively takes a step back.

Noticing her distance, Xu Yanqing's calm eyes soften with restrained tenderness. He steps out of the shadows, stands beneath a streetlight, and gently wipes away the tears at the corner of her eyes.

"Wanwan, don't be afraid of me."
