The Love Song Never Told Me

[About This Story]

Mutual, unspoken attraction and the male lead's secret crush

After returning to the country, Pei Siyi meets up with a friend at a bar. Her friend gets completely drunk and goes home with another girl, leaving her little brother in Pei Siyi's care.

The younger man admits, "I can't hold my liquor. One drink and I'm out."

Such an honest kid? Naturally, Pei Siyi has to get him drunk.

He downs his drink in one go, then coughs until his eyes grow damp.

Those reddened eyes meet hers, making her heart itch.

What Pei Siyi doesn't know is that Qi Yan was willing to let her get him drunk from the very beginning.

Later, at Pei Siyi's comeback showcase, Qi Yan, who never appears on variety shows, shows up as a mysterious guest.

After the show, when reporters ask Pei Siyi what it was like working with Qi Yan, she says, "He's very well-behaved and very patient."

Everyone else: Is this really Qi Yan? Do you have some kind of misunderstanding about what 'well-behaved' and 'patient' mean?

Qi Yan silently nods beside her, as if agreeing with her.

Then she gives a sly wink. "Except... when we first met, he wouldn't call me 'sis.'"

"I'm a few years older than you. It wouldn't hurt to call me 'sis,' would it?"

Rumors about the two of them never stop. After a photo of them going home together is leaked, the official explanation is that their families have been neighbors for more than ten years.

But that very night, Qi Yan releases a love song titled "The Girl Next Door."

As Pei Siyi listens to his voice, she opens the window between their rooms and smiles at him.

"Who's your girl next door?"

Qi Yan still remembers the piano music drifting over from the house next door to his grandmother's when he was fifteen, and the sight of her suddenly appearing at his eighteenth birthday party and asking him to dance.

Some memories are worth keeping forever. Remember:

"Those love songs, I sang them for you."

A dazzling diva making her comeback to the top X a brash, unruly top-tier star with a secret crush

She's three years older; both are each other's first love; no real-life inspirations.

"Those love songs, I sang them for you" is a modified quotation from the lyrics of "Love Songs Didn't Tell You." The title of the novel also comes from that song.

Theme: A secret crush comes true, and they find their way to each other.
