The Empty Case

___________ Blurb begins ____________

Prophecies, dreams, and cruel facts batter him like a raging storm. The exhausted man drags his weary body forward and plunges into the abyss...

He still clearly remembers that night. Loneliness, confusion, helplessness, and despair instantly closed in around him like waves of ash. His eyes widened as he struggled and cried out for help. There was no way out.

Two years later, the man who had endured endless torment and lost every trace of his humanity suddenly returns. From the depths of a dark, freezing dungeon, he slowly steps back into the bustling human world.

One day, a strange and unsettling man shows up at the Jiangzhou Municipal Police Bureau. Dressed in black casual clothes and a white baseball cap, he casually shows his ID and says, "Hello, is this the Municipal Police Bureau? I'd like to apply for a forensic examiner position."

Wait, can just anyone show up and take our jobs these days?!

The former forensic examiner: "!!?"

After the entire hiring process is complete, the old bureau chief says, "The new guy stays. You can go, old forensic examiner."

The former examiner slams his bag down. "I'm done! Hire whoever you want at this bureau!"

Gu Nanchi sticks his hands in his pockets and replies without a shred of politeness, "Have a nice trip. Bye-bye!"

And so, Jiang Kegui is very fortunate to become a forensic examiner. His judgments are always precise and flawless, and his analyses meticulous and accurate. As a result, one particularly careless person often forgets what his actual job is.

The more time they spend together, the more Gu Nanchi comes to his senses: Jiang Kegui really is a wonderful guy. He's not only handsome, but has a unique charm, too. Maybe he should make him his...

During an urgent case, Jiang Kegui ignores everyone's objections and rushes into the chaos to check on an injured person. When Gu Nanchi arrives at the scene, he suddenly sees Jiang Kegui, who has fallen into someone's trap, hanging upside down in the middle of the hall, eyes closed and looking peaceful, as if asleep. Gu Nanchi panics on the spot and rushes in to save him, carried away by a surge of emotion.

He thinks, If I don't tell him the truth now, I'll never get another chance!

So, in the long hours of the night, Gu Nanchi cups Jiang Kegui's soft face, gives it a few pinches, then pecks him on the forehead like a little chick.

After that, he lays low for quite a while, spending every day using cases as an excuse to work alongside Jiang Kegui.

The psychological consultant scolds him loudly: "His mental state is extremely, exceptionally, alarmingly abnormal. Haven't you noticed how clingy he's been lately?"

One nudge from someone else, and Gu Nanchi's wooden head finally gets the message. He starts pursuing Jiang Kegui with everything he's got, willing to do anything. If Jiang Kegui asks, he'll do it.

Jiang Kegui: "...What are you up to?"

On the night of June 11, Gu Nanchi grabs Jiang Kegui by the wrist at the scene, takes a pair of gleaming metal handcuffs from his person, and says, "I'm sorry, Mr. Jiang. I have to perform my official duties now, so I'm placing you under arrest in accordance with the law."

As the last link of the handcuffs snaps shut, Gu Nanchi suddenly turns and kisses his soft lips, murmuring, "So sweet..." Then he explains, "Actually, I'm arresting you for everyone's sake, because you're just too dangerous. I... can't bear to watch someone steal you away right in front of me, darling."

That night was destined to be sleepless. A sudden gunshot rings out, and a mysterious shadow in the building takes a sip of mellow red wine.

"Whether in the past or now, it all ends here."

6. This story aims to reveal various kinds of criminal behavior and show the leads solving cases together.

7. Their relationship faces some setbacks, but they'll make it in the end.
