The Little Taotie’s Life in the Old Days

When the little Taotie woke up, she found herself in a remote village.

The villagers all disliked her. The little Taotie rubbed her empty belly, dizzy with hunger.

Luckily, a poor teacher named Yan, who had a limp, found her and took her in as his daughter.

Teacher Yan's family was poor. His wife was often ill, and the son she'd given birth to was a fool who still couldn't speak at five years old.

Behind their backs, the villagers mocked the whole family.

As the little Taotie held the bowl of food her adoptive father had given her and heard them sneering, her brow furrowed. She was not happy!

Dad's too poor? No problem!

The little Taotie patted her belly. Having tasted every kind of delicacy, she knew countless secret recipes and could easily set up a food stall.

Mom's sick? No problem!

The little Taotie came with a treasure-hunting map. She could dig up lingzhi mushrooms and cordyceps, finding even the rarest medicinal herbs.

Her brother's foolish? Even less of a problem!

The big-city doctor she'd lured in with her delicious food came to their home in person to treat him.

Some time later,

As the Yan family prospered and escaped poverty, the villagers who used to mock them...

Could no longer bring themselves to smile.
