Liu Ximo meets Wen Rui during the first-day placement test at Bianhua High School. A scrap of paper flies over, not for an answer, but because someone just wants paper.

From then on, the person rushing around in front of him becomes his deskmate and roommate.

Wen Rui is a born contrarian. He seems to feel uncomfortable unless he argues back about everything. He seems not to have changed at all from childhood to adulthood.

Liu Ximo often marvels that after being apart for so many years, they can still end up together, with decades of life ahead of them.
