Blurb:

The celestial official in charge of fate has been fretting lately. He has repeatedly urged Immortal Venerable Miaoxin to undergo a tribulation of love, but she has always refused, saying, "I have no worldly desires, so I don't need one."

One day, while capturing demons in the mortal realm, Miaoxin accidentally sliced off a mountain. As luck would have it, the shrine on that mountain was dedicated to a mighty deity she couldn't afford to offend. She had to be punished.

The Celestial Emperor: "Choose one: have your bones broken and tendons severed, or undergo a tribulation of love."

Miaoxin: "...I'll undergo the tribulation of love."

Miaoxin sneaked into the Underworld to look at the Book of Fate. She cursed the celestial official in charge of fate over and over, then picked up the Judge's brush and edited the book.

She didn't change much, only switched the male and female roles. In short, this was a melodramatic fate-book in which the disciple had to die for the master to pass her tribulation.

Miaoxin skipped the Meng Po Soup and went through the tribulation with her memories intact.

At first: "What a thoughtful little disciple. He's so considerate of his master." (The plot was firmly in hand.)

Later: "I... lost control for a moment. I'll take responsibility!" (The plot was gradually spiraling out of control.)

In the end, things got so out of hand that she tore up the Book of Fate in a rage and sacrificed half her immortal power to piece together the soul of her disciple, who had gone mad and killed himself.

Heavenly tribulation thunder struck. Miaoxin shielded him with her body, only to discover that it was the Divine Thunder of Ascension, which transforms tribulations and dispels calamities. Her disciple regained his divine status as the foremost of the Nine Exalted Ones, the very mighty deity she couldn't afford to offend.

Miaoxin: MMP, half my immortal power...
