Bottom's perspective:
Yun Cheng stutters, and he has had a hard life. His birth father abandoned him when he was five, and his birth mother died of illness when he was ten. He's pitiful and helpless.
Worried that Yun Cheng would be bullied after she was gone, Yun Mu spent all her savings before she died to find him a way out: a job as a servant in an important man's household.
So Yun Cheng could let his mother leave in peace, he set off with a bundle containing just two sets of ragged clothes.
But he stuttered, and the household servants treated him according to how much they thought he was worth. His life was not easy.
Fortunately, the Second Young Master was kindhearted. Seeing how pitiful he was, he let him work in the small kitchen.
There was a sharp-tongued but softhearted cook in the kitchen, who made excellent pastries. Even the distinguished guests who came to visit praised her skill.
Yun Cheng stuttered, but he was honest and hardworking. Though the cook would tell him that his Brother Meng must have long forgotten him and married and had children, she still did her best to pass on her skills to Yun Cheng.
Yun Cheng said he wouldn't go, but then turned around and pleaded with the Second Young Master. He wanted to return to his hometown to find the person who had protected him since childhood.
Top's perspective:
Li Mian was the local bully in Yangjia Village. He worked at a gambling house in the city, and his bad reputation had spread across the surrounding villages. Anyone who offended him had to be prepared for a thorough beating, so even though he was of marriageable age, he still hadn't found a match.
Yet one day, this villain whom everyone avoided was pestered by a little stutterer.
He heard that the little stutterer was also from Lijia Village, but his family had died years ago, so he had gone elsewhere to make a living.
The boy looked tiny, with a face no bigger than a palm. He would duck his head whenever Li Mian glared at him, yet he followed him to the gambling house every day. One day, Li Mian finally lost patience, grabbed him by the collar, and yelled at him. But the boy was the first to get upset, sniffing back tears as he said, "Could you... stop going? I'm afraid... something will happen to you."
Li Mian was baffled. "If I stop working, are you going to support me?"
To his surprise, the little stutterer nodded. "Okay. Let's get married."
"..."
The people of Yangjia Village said they'd seen everything now: someone actually wanted to marry Li Mian, the local bully.
So everyone guessed Yun Cheng's stutter must be incurable, and that he'd turned to Li Mian because no one else would marry him.
They thought Li Mian would get sick of him sooner or later.
But no one knew that eight years ago, Li Mian had cracked his head open chasing Yun Cheng's carriage.
And even fewer knew Yun Cheng had a secret: he had always liked Li Mian.

3. No golden finger, a pure farming novel.
4. Not too long, around 200,000 Chinese characters.
