There are two weird kids in the town of Smallville:
Clark Kent, and Edith, the girl from the orphanage.
One occasionally has a fit, then bolts out of the classroom looking terrified.
The other often mutters to pencils, lunch trays, and toilets as if she were having conversations with them.
Odd kids like these are practically perfect targets for school bullies.
So one afternoon after school, a chubby kid built like a tank and his cronies cornered the two of them in the restroom.
Clark, who had always been told by his dad to hide his strength, was still hesitating over whether to fight back.
Meanwhile, the other "unlucky kid" had already started negotiating with the toilet:
"Close, how about you bear with me for a bit? I promise I'll shove his head in there to teach him a lesson, then pull him right back out. I won't keep him in a second longer."
The red-haired girl earnestly discussed teaching a bully twice her size a lesson with the toilet. When the bully gave a scornful laugh, she suddenly sprang into action, grabbed him by the collar, and shoved him headfirst into the toilet.
That scene was forever etched into young Clark's mind.
Years later, when the boy from the town had grown into the city's protector, he ran into his old partner in misfortune again. She had become an urban legend of a different kind:
"Have you heard? That new female consultant helped the police solve another serial murder case."
"That's seriously messed up!"
The consultant in question, Edith, said she had solved the case by accident.
After all, the baseball cap on the suspect's head as he brushed past her had been shouting triumphantly:
"So what if I'm a serial killer? I'm still the one who has you under me!"
Edith: All right, your death sentence has been received.
