I'm Determined to Make This Love Happen

Chen Manyue’s new screenplay is rejected by the producer for the third time. The reason: the leads have no romantic chemistry in their scenes together. The suggestion: fall in love to get a feel for it. She thinks nothing of it, until she falls and injures her leg and is taken to the hospital, where she meets a doctor in the emergency room.

The doctor’s name is Xu Shuo. He has refined features and long legs, and his only flaw is that he never smiles. But that fits the male lead’s aloof, untouchable persona perfectly. Chen Manyue immediately messages the producer: You were right. I’ve found the feeling.

From that day on, the First City Hospital has a new brave soul pursuing Dr. Xu. Chen Manyue pursues him earnestly for two months, and her screenplay becomes smooth and natural. The only regret is that Dr. Xu is going abroad for an exchange program. Pursuing someone across borders is too difficult, so she has no choice but to give up.

A year later, while the hit show The Story of Dr. Wang and Me is airing, Xu Shuo returns to the country. He asks the head nurse, “Did Chen Manyue come to the hospital looking for me at all this past year?”

The head nurse shakes her head, then sends him a romantic drama and an interview video. The plot of the show seems oddly familiar, and the interview is even worse. Chen Manyue smiles shyly at the camera: “Mainly because I found... some really good material back then.”

The cast and crew of Dr. Wang are partying at their celebration banquet until the early hours of the morning. Chen Manyue takes out her phone to check the time and sees a friend request from three hours ago.

The sender’s name is downright bizarre: Your Material.

The verification message sounds pitiful: I’ve been waiting outside your place for three hours.
