She had never settled down, and even her ex-husband’s mother urged her to stop waiting for her husband, who had been missing for years, and start a new relationship. She always ignored the advice.
Then one day, she met a man who looked just like her ex-husband, and she couldn’t hold herself back. He was the spitting image of her beloved. If she didn’t seize this chance, she might never get another, so she pursued him relentlessly, determined to marry her stand-in.
But then a “king” appeared out of nowhere and had his men kidnap her to a mysterious old mansion. A man in a bathrobe sat high on an ornate chair, his hair half-dry. Leaning back, he seemed lost in thought as he blew smoke rings.
The soldiers urged her to kneel and pay respects to their king, but she just stared at him. If the stand-in was the spitting image of her beloved, then this guy was a one-to-one, 3D-printed replica. He looked exactly like the husband who had disappeared eight years ago, and he hadn’t aged at all.
When he saw her approach, he hooked a finger in her collar and pulled her close. A teasing smoke ring drifted slowly across her frozen face. His lips curled with a hint of mockery, and his eyes were cold and blank. “Darling, your comeuppance has arrived.”
She waved away the smoke, rubbed her eyes in disbelief, and saw that he truly looked exactly like the face in her memories. She couldn’t help muttering, “Damn, I must be seeing a ghost…”
