1. Xu Yi worked diligently in the entertainment industry for three years, but remained a bottom-tier actress.
Her deskmate, Chen Wangzhou, stumbled into the industry by chance and swept the awards at major film festivals across the country. In just one year, he rose to become a top-tier star.
After Chen Wangzhou shot to fame, fans dug up a Weibo account named @ChenWangzhouAndXuYiHaveTheyMadeItOfficialToday.
The account told the moving love story of Chen Wangzhou and Xu Yi: childhood sweethearts, high school deskmates, both pursuing each other, and reuniting at the top.
The account had posted every day for 273 days without a break.
A variety show invited Chen Wangzhou and Xu Yi to join, hoping to promote them as a couple. Xu Yi figured they weren't close and turned it down outright.
Chen Wangzhou lazily raised his eyelids. "Are you afraid I'll realize during filming that you've been hung up on me all these years? Was that rumor account about us being in love your secret account?"
Xu Yi: ???
2. After the show aired, the Chen Wangzhou and Xu Yi pairing exploded in popularity.
The fans analyzed every frame and every second for romantic moments, eventually concluding that Chen Wangzhou had definitely been the first to secretly love Xu Yi.
Xu Yi thought to herself, Back in high school, Chen Wangzhou was like the moon in the sky. He never came down to earth, and no one dared get close to him. How could he possibly have had a crush on me?
After the fans had combed through the show in painstaking detail, they finally flooded the rumor account, @ChenWangzhouAndXuYiHaveTheyMadeItOfficialToday, demanding more romantic moments.
A Weibo glitch caused the watermark to retain the previous account ID when switching between main and alternate accounts.
So Xu Yi, who had been discussing with her manager how to distance herself from the pairing and focus the attention on her own career, saw a post like this:
@ChenWangzhou: It doesn't really count as a romantic moment, I guess, but I sure enjoy shipping them!
On graduation night, we all went to the amusement park. I saw cwz secretly kiss xy. xy didn't know (*^▽^*) hehehe
Xu Yi: ...So you were the one spreading rumors about yourself all along.
[One midsummer afternoon when we were seventeen,
you woke up at your desk.
When you looked at me, your cheeks were red.
It made my heart flutter.]
