The story of Tu Feifei, a female university student in the journalism department, and Xiao Yang, an adjunct teacher at her university, joining forces to solve cases involving supposed supernatural phenomena. Are the culprits behind these incidents ghosts or people? Sometimes human nature is more frightening than monsters.
Xiao Yang was exceptionally perceptive and good at exams. At thirty-three, his graduate degree and years of solving cases earned him the position of captain of a major crimes squad. Yet this promising young man in other people's eyes had no interest in criminal investigation. Corpses and ghosts were the things he found most terrifying, and as someone who valued his life, he couldn't stand the job's life-or-death risks. So, using his academic talents, he secretly pursued a career as a university teacher while working part-time as an adjunct lecturer.
As for where his accomplishments came from, for example...
A scene from one of his assignments:
Xiao Yang came face to face with the stone-cold butcher behind a series of murders. They faced off for hours without making any progress...
The butcher brandished his knife. "Y-you! Why aren't you drawing your gun?!"
Xiao Yang pointed at him, drenched in cold sweat. "None of your business! Drawing my gun... is kind of a hassle!"
The butcher waved his knife, on the verge of a breakdown. "P-please, just draw your gun and get this over with! I-I can't hold out much longer!"
Xiao Yang: "I told you... it's a hassle!"
The butcher pointed at him with a trembling finger. "How much of a hassle? I-it's right there on your waist above your butt, isn't it?"
Xiao Yang pointed at the butcher's hand. "N-no, I need you to surrender! If you surrender, I only have to file one report. If I draw my gun and you surrender, I have two reports, plus an explanation for drawing my weapon. If I fire it, I won't get off work today. Four reports... at minimum!"
Besides, with bullets flying everywhere, a misfire could get you killed even faster...
The butcher: "..."
In the end, the butcher put down his knife... and Xiao Yang earned another commendation.
Xiao Yang: "..."
Tu Feifei, a university student, was in Xiao Yang's elective course on forensic psychology, which he taught part-time. She was born adventurous, didn't believe in ghosts or spirits, and hated superstition with a passion.
She was so exceptionally bold that all sorts of stories about her spread around campus. The rumor was: whatever you do, don't date Tu Feifei!
The first guy who tried dating her: "On our first day, Feifei took me to a haunted house, saying I should get used to what dating her would be like. Then an NPC jumped right in my face! I nearly left this beautiful world behind..."
The second guy who tried dating her: "We went on two romantic dates beneath the flowers and moon, and every time I heard crying like Hanako the ghost girl. I decided we should go our separate ways... Only afterward did I learn it was her ringtone."
Tu Feifei infiltrated the forum "One Hundred Ghost Stories from the School Campus," vowing to stamp out every superstitious tale.
When Tu Feifei met Xiao Yang, a string of cases full of shrieks and twists came crashing down! "The Death Thesis," "The Campus Ghost Child," "The Mysterious Mansion," "The Abandoned School"...
Xiao Yang yelled, "Tu Feifei!! How many times have I told you!! Stay away from me!!"
