At first, Arthur was simply curious about how long an outsider’s ray of sunshine would last before fading away in Gotham.
He never imagined that one day he would want to live an ordinary life with her.

But by the end of the story, it was impossible to tell who had let whom down.

In truth, I think Arthur’s tragedy began in childhood. Changing that would take an enormous amount of effort from someone.
