After being bitten by a snake, Snape, now burdened with memories, returns to his fifth year.
His missing memories leave his feelings as if locked inside a cage.
They slowly ferment within, while outside the cage, no one knows.
When he can no longer control his gaze as it follows Lily,
he notices that another gaze is never far from Potter.
Who could be so blind?
(Potter and the heroine are not romantically involved.)

Status: Just an idea. I haven't even thought of a name for the heroine yet. Given the hellish difficulty of writing a professor and potions, this will probably take a lifetime.
