Sword and Scabbard

You Qi emerged from the mire transformed, steadfast in spirit and astonishingly clever, yet sharp-tongued, ungrateful, and sick of the world.

When he ascended, the immortal sect turned him away. An immortal elder changed his fate, sending him back into the cycle of reincarnation to temper the bitterness and darkness within him.

And so the ill-fated loner, despised by cats and dogs alike, became the Heaven-blessed child of fortune. You Qi scoffed at this and stubbornly went his own way.

Until he met his other half.

You Qi was a sword, keen and cold; that person was the scabbard, embracing all his violence.

That person was a sword, without heart or feeling; You Qi was the scabbard, entrusted with all his tenderness.
