Meng Xinyao, known as the "ghosts' bane at Wangchuan River,"
wanders into the Langhuan Blessed Land on Mount Kunlun for the first time,
and finds a curious tale in Records of Strange Tales from the Nine Heavens:
Five hundred years ago, the Heavenly Realm's God of War was tricked into marriage by the Underworld's princess.
The princess was on the verge of facing her heavenly tribulation,
and only made it through and ascended thanks to the God of War's wholehearted help.
Yet afterward, she turned her back on him and refused to acknowledge their marriage, demanding a divorce to the bitter end...
Xinyao has a rather unusual way of understanding what she reads:
So there really is a shortcut through a tribulation.

Even after she wakes up one day back on the eve of her wedding,
Xinyao still feels there's an insurmountable chasm
between herself and Fuli.
And yet this wedding is exactly what she has long dreamed of.
Translator's note: After waking from a nightmare and opening her eyes again,
should she marry her future husband, who sees her as a substitute?
As the saying goes, "Like mother, like daughter." Xinyao chooses to marry him.
