Su Tang has transmigrated and married the wealthiest merchant in the area.
Her young, handsome husband treats her well. His favorite thing to say every day, though, is: "You must be a good wife and mistress of the household."
For a number of reasons, she fakes being kidnapped by bandits and runs away.
Su Tang's husband had thought they were a respectful, harmonious couple and that his little wife was sweet and obedient, until he discovers she ran away on her own.
Furious, he is convinced his little wife eloped with her childhood sweetheart, so he goes to Jiangnan himself to catch them in the act.
When he sees Su Tang still living alone and calling herself a widow, his anger subsides a little.
But after secretly watching her for several days, he feels a deepening sense of crisis.
The peddler who sticks to his wife all day has bad intentions. The top assassin she rescued after he was injured is clearly a wolf in sheep's clothing. And that foxy man with the flirtatious eyes obviously wants to spend a night of passion with his wife.
Question: How do you casually run into your wife and then tactfully persuade her to come home?
This is the story of a wildly chauvinistic jerk getting reformed. If you're looking for historical accuracy, this isn't for you.
After finishing a multiple-love-interest story, I wanted to write a straightforward one-on-one romance. The jerk is chaste, but not very bright and far too domineering. He'll change as the story goes on.
Watching the jerk suffer is sure to be satisfying, trust me.
