Yu Lan balances the coin on its edge.

Geng Weiran: "If it lands on its edge, we'll get married today."

Yu Lan: "..."

When Madam Luo sweetly calls him "husband," Luo Qing trembles, and every entertainment venue in the capital shakes to its foundations.

Soon, all the capital's entertainment venues put up signs: Young Master Luo Qing and his beloved dog are not allowed inside.

Luo Qing: "Wife, I was wrong. Forgive me! I'll change, I'll change everything. Please spare me and my beloved dog. The poor thing really is pitiful."

Madam Luo calls softly, and the dog wags its tail and jumps into her arms.

Luo Qing: "You ungrateful little thing! Even you betrayed me!"

With nowhere to go for fun, Luo Qing stays home and throws himself into self-improvement, practicing martial arts by day and reading by night.

After that, Luo Qing's life has its ups and downs, and then more ups, from passing the imperial examinations to being thrown in prison and eventually becoming a general who protects the nation.

Mei Shengrui stays by his side the whole time.

He shines brilliantly, and she is every bit his equal. He roams far and wide, and she braves every storm with him.

The wife he had once been forced to marry has, without his noticing, become the love of his life.

He would give his life to protect her and ensure she lives without fear for the rest of her days.

Which young noblewoman in the capital would dare mock Madam Luo now? Would she not fear that the powerful, doting husband might sentence her to death?

Years later, by the window as they trim the candlewick, Mei Shengrui tells Luo Qing that meeting him was the happiest thing in her life. Without him, she would have remained trapped in the women's quarters forever, but now she has become the person she always wanted to be.

Luo Qing: "Wife, if there is another life..."

Mei Shengrui: "If there is another life, we'll still be husband and wife, never leaving each other's side."

Bound by marriage, devoted and trusting, alive we shall return to each other; dead, we shall yearn for each other forever.

Neither of them died. They both lived happily.
