Nakajima Atsushi, who grew up in an orphanage, is a librarian at the Imperial Library.

Librarian in name, relationship mediator in practice.

As a child, the orphanage director locked him in a dark corner, where he shivered and fell asleep. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a beautiful library, where a person and a cat told him he was the newly appointed librarian.

Young Nakajima Atsushi didn't know what it meant to be tricked, but something felt off. Before he knew it, he'd taken up the post.

Day after day, Nakajima Atsushi diligently and conscientiously smoothed over the conflicts between the great literary masters in the library. Then, when he turned eighteen, they kicked him out, saying they wanted him to experience the ways of the world.

Having been spoiled rotten by the masters and treated to good food and drink in the library, Nakajima Atsushi lived up to everyone's expectations. After passing through several places, he ended up penniless on the streets of Yokohama. His natural disposition meant that he stayed true to himself even without a penny to his name. Until he pulled a man named Dazai Osamu out of a river...

Atsushi: Is it really so popular these days to use a literary master's name as your real name?

P.S. Atsushi grew up in the library and knows the masters are literary figures. His own name is the same as that of the famous author who wrote The Moon Over the Mountain, but the several masters together managed to talk him out of thinking too much about it.
