Insects live an average of 300 years. Each Insect Emperor has such powerful mental strength but such a frail constitution that none live past 200. Many females, unable to bear the loss, choose to be buried with them.

Males can only be born through gestation in a mother's body, while females can be born at a research institute using only female insect genes.
