The Immortal World's Greatest Kept Man

Zhao Jiuyao was promised in marriage as a child. Supposedly, his betrothed was a prodigy from Xianyun Sect, the greatest sect in the immortal world, while he was just an ordinary disciple from a small sect.

Certain he'd be dumped at any moment, Zhao Jiuyao decided to enjoy the last of the perks while he could. Taking the betrothal gift his fiance had sent, a little black snake, he set off on a journey of cultivation (swaggering around and conning people).

Trading on his reputation as the fiance of a disciple from Xianyun Sect, he threw his weight around everywhere he went. Before long, Zhao Jiuyao had become a famous prodigy who lived off his fiance.

Then... he wasn't dumped.

And then, the little black snake in his arms turned into his fiance.

Zhao Jiuyao: Can someone help me explain (make excuses for) this?

Later, one of Zhao Jiuyao's famous sayings spread throughout the world: "I've crossed every unjust road under heaven, and only today have I learned how sweet it is to live off someone else."
