Coming next: A Courtyard Full of Charm. If you're interested, check it out in my column and add it to your collection!
After the Shen family fell into ruin, Shen Yihan took her young brother to seek refuge with her aunt, who had married into the Ningyuan Earl's household. She lived there for three years, while rumors ran rampant through the estate.
They said she was born alluring and beautiful, with the face of a vixen. At nineteen, she was still unmarried, clearly waiting for her sick aunt to weaken so she could seduce her uncle by marriage and climb into the Earl's household.
She knew she was living under someone else's roof, so she was always careful and never ventured out of the rear courtyard without good reason.
That day, with her aunt gravely ill, she went to the front courtyard to ask her uncle to visit her.
But when she arrived, she saw the one person she never wanted to see again. Fortunately, after they crossed paths a few times, he seemed not to recognize her anymore, treating her with distant indifference.
Outside the study, snow drifted down, turning the splendid courtyard into a white painting.
Shen Yihan's lashes trembled as she whispered, "Uncle..."
The man before her lowered his eyes. After a long silence, he suddenly gave her a faint, cool smile. "Three years ago, you didn't call me that."
His words struck like a blizzard, and terror surged through her. Her mind went blank, and the memories came rushing back.
Three years ago, to save herself, she had given herself to the deputy chieftain of the Keca'er tribe.
She had personally knocked over the candle in the man's tent, then watched the flames consume it. No one survived.
But she had never imagined that the man who should have been burned to ash would not only survive, but return as the eldest son of the Ningyuan Earl's household,
and as the renowned General Rongcheng, who had crushed the Keca'er tribe and won countless battles.
.
For over a decade, Gu Congyi had lived by the sword and the saddle. Aside from avenging his father's death, few things ever kept him awake at night.
Only a handful of times had he closed his eyes and seen the same little face, tearful and pitiful as she wept.
The side story has been moved to the author's column, under A Newlywed Chapter of Missing You. Feel free to check it out.
Ji Jiu Si married into the Pei family in both her lives.
In her previous life, she married Pei Min. In this life, she married his powerful adoptive father, Pei Changshi.
.
In her previous life, Ji Jiu Si was an orphan who returned from exile, a bringer of misfortune rejected by the noble clans. The man she loved was devoted to her half-sister instead.
In this life, she was reborn at fifteen, on the journey back to Lin'an after her grandmother came to bring her home. She protected the grandmother who cherished her, and would personally put a poisoned blade through those who had wronged her.
[Little Scene]
Her grandmother once sounded Jiu Si out: "What do you think of Pei Changshi of the Pei family in Lin'an?"
Jiu Si hesitated. "Minister Pei is already thirty and still unmarried. Perhaps there's some unspeakable reason."
It was only a private conversation, but somehow, just a few days later, Jiu Si was invited to a little courtyard for tea.
Pei Changshi smiled warmly. "Tell me, what unspeakable reason? I'll take care of it."
The saying goes that a gentleman should keep nine things in mind. That's only the simplest interpretation.
He could just about be called a gentleman, too.
P.S.:
1. Both leads are each other's one and only. There's a thirteen-year age gap, and a sweet story is guaranteed from Old Rabbit.
2. The early story focuses on domestic intrigue. The heroine has few advantages, and the romance is a slow burn. The hero's story mostly begins after chapter forty.
3. A special note: this is the author's first book, so the writing may be a little immature. Please be understanding, dear readers.
Theme: Make the most of a second chance, live with care and love life. A new life is a new beginning, and in the end, happiness can be found.
That's it. It's just too short, but it's quite well written.
Can we still look forward to the extra episode? I'm crying.
Can't find wb's Cheche TAT
Let's see if it's fully ordered.
The writing is great, it would be better if there was more about married life!
Great, just a little short, hahahaha
It feels like the relationship is a bit sudden. The male protagonist has met many women and is easily attracted. Also, the female protagonist had a weird attitude towards the concubine before and looked down on her, but she is also an orphan in the eyes of others.
I realized that being ordinary is the truth
Congratulations on the completion. It's very beautiful.
When will the author update the extra story?
