The number of things in heaven and earth cannot be counted. People flourish and fade like plants and trees, striving for life, beauty, and glory, then giving back to the earth.
Yet immortals dwell high above the nine heavens. They enjoy endless lifespans and limitless power, can do whatever they please, and wield supreme authority and dominion.
As time passed, humanity remained lowly while the power of the immortals and gods knew no bounds.
So humankind sought the path to the Dao, and the Investiture of the Gods was born.
I am Su Daji. Yes, you heard me right. I am that shameless fox demon Su Daji who threw the Shang court into chaos. I was ruthless and cruel, tortured loyal officials, sought pleasure and luxury, and amassed wealth by unscrupulous means, leaving the people destitute.
I had a cold and aloof female boss, an ancient god who created humanity and mended the heavens, Nuwa. The tyrant King Zhou praised her as "Curving hills of distant mountains, their green hues in flight; sleeves fluttering in dance, reflecting rosy skirts. Pear blossoms vie in beauty through the rain, peonies veil themselves in mist, dressed in bewitching finery..."
But that was the version of me after someone took over my body. What follows is my inner monologue, my personal profile:
I am Su Daji. Yes, you heard me right. I am the very unlucky daughter of the Marquis of Jizhou, Su Hu, whose body was taken over by a fox demon. My beauty could topple kingdoms. One glance from me could dazzle the mortal world, and King Zhou fell in love with me at first sight because of my beauty.
When I was born, I saw the graceful maids in ancient robes and the old-fashioned pavilions and towers filling the courtyard, and thought I was about to live out my life in a period drama about a wealthy young lady in ancient times. When it came time to choose my name at my full-month celebration, I realized I was wrong. Faced with all the dazzling antiques laid out for the traditional object-grabbing ceremony, I was utterly bewildered, but quickly figured out my situation: no way forward, no way back, and a death sentence already being carried out.
In other words, I was the poor girl born to fulfill Heaven's will, destined to die by Heaven's will, and destined to have my body taken over by the fox demon serving Nuwa. Such was my fate.
With no strength to even truss a chicken, how could I change what was fated?
Should I give up? No! I would never give up! I would strive to live a great life and die a glorious death. I would make the most of my limited life, use my limited abilities to ignite my boundless potential, and accomplish something beyond all limits.
If Heaven had feelings, it too would grow old. The righteous path of the human world is one of change and turmoil.
The mortal's song of Su Daji, who transmigrated: Keep going, and keep singing.
Theme: Do not fear Heaven's decree, do not blindly follow the ways of the ancestors, and do not worry about what others say!
