This time, the author wanted to try a nontraditional male and female lead. The idea came from seeing a post that complained that "romance is everything in women's fiction." In male-led stories, killing one's sister to prove the Dao is commonplace; in female-led stories, love comes first.
I didn't quite agree, so I wanted to write a story where the heroine makes the choices a sensible person would make in moments of right and wrong. I wanted to show that in such moments, men aren't the only ones who can be warriors.
