A Box of Fragrance

[By Lie Ju] [A Box of Fragrance: Old Shadows of the Republic] [Old Cat has something to say] This story came from a dream I had a few years ago. It had so many twists and turns that I shared in the characters' happiness and sorrow for quite a while. How many cold nights beneath the moon among the pines? A charming rouge-red beauty, may they share music and life together... A Republic-era story. If you like it, please don't hold back your comments. If you like it, please add me to your favorites! I'm also updating... A Box of Fragrance: How long can a lifetime be? Long enough for her to have forgotten herself. How is Zeng Yin, the childhood friend who grew up with her and loved her deeply, doing now? A Republic-era story. It was originally a little tragic: the male lead went to Malaysia and never returned, while the female lead waited her whole life. When he returned to China in the 1980s and found his estranged wife and child, the female lead was already dead, and he had remarried. That was the plan nine years ago... But my outlook has changed a lot since then. As I wrote, I felt the female lead's life was just too tragic, so I changed the ending and gave the couple a happy reunion... The original ending was more realistic, but while writing it, I thought, it's only a novel. Why not give them a little hope? Well... The story takes place from 1921 to 1949, from Beijing to Wuxi. Lu Xiaopin is the daughter of Lu Shaofu, a Hanlin scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. She was promised in marriage as a child... Her betrothed is Qi Zengyin, the young master of the former Qing imperial household's general affairs office, and the male lead. A little unconventional: the women here are genuine friends, so you won't find any backstabbing frenemies... The warm-hearted one is the male lead, not the long-suffering second male lead who's always stuck in the friend zone... The second male lead is the one who enjoys tormenting people, has a twisted mind, keeps wanting to be the other man, and delusionally thinks he's been cheated on. He's Zhang Ducheng, the young marshal and son of Marshal Zhang, not the male lead who gets the starring role... Theme: Love will find its way home
