A Sword Across Autumn

The spirit procession, the lotus fairy. The gods are pleased, their anger appeased...

Bah! What gods? They’re clearly evil spirits!

A village that offers women as sacrifices to evil spirits, a beautiful white jade statue that takes human form, demons who toy with people’s hearts and slaughter entire families...

A strange and uncanny world, human greed, demonic wickedness, good and evil difficult to discern, blood and tears intertwined.

A collection of stories, with a touch of horror. Both leads are strong.

Female lead: Clever and brave, a quick-witted girl full of tricks.

Male lead: Once the favored child of heaven, he fell to the mortal world in a single day, then climbed back to the top step by step. A domineering hero on the outside, a sweet, clueless softie on the inside (?)

Coming soon: The Beloved Empress

Xie Chichun had always known she was only a stand-in. It didn’t matter. Thanks to her five-point resemblance to the late love of His Majesty the Emperor, Yuqing, she rose to power, became the most favored woman in the harem, and eliminated the treacherous minister who had framed her father.

Dawn on jade steps, dew in golden cups, the fragrance of phoenix marrow mingling with smoke. The golden crown, the white jade belt, the phoenix-colored splendor of nine-layered palace halls. Having tasted power, who would willingly let it go?

Xie Chichun thought she would go one step further. In this deeply locked palace, only a phoenix could stand at the very top. She would become that phoenix.

She wanted His Majesty the Emperor to fall in love with her. She wanted to become a phoenix. And, she thought, the first step was to make His Majesty realize that she was not his Yuqing. She was Xie Chichun.

That was a little dangerous. Perhaps it would anger His Majesty and cost her his favor forever. But to stand at the very top, she had to take the risks that came with it, didn’t she?

Empress Wu wrote at Ganye Temple, “I cannot believe you have shed so many tears these days. Open the box and see the pomegranate-red skirt.” She moved Emperor Gaozong Li Zhi. Xie Chichun smiled faintly. Pouring out her feelings, gazing at him with tender affection... she could do that, too.
