Coveting His Favor (Scheming, Conquest, and Melodrama)

On the day of Nan Shu's wedding, the Kingdom of Nan fell.

Dressed in a red wedding gown, Nan Shu went from being the beloved little princess of Nan to a prisoner in chains, shoved and driven along.

When she was pushed face-down onto the ground, Nan Shu's heart turned to ash. She lifted her eyes and saw the new emperor above her, freezing in place.

Lu Qing'an descended the white jade steps in a bright yellow imperial robe, stunningly handsome.

But to Nan Shu, he looked like a vengeful ghost. Fear filled her watery eyes. Then a flash of resolve crossed them. She shut her eyes and bit her tongue, but he suddenly seized her chin.

Lu Qing'an's fingertips brushed across Nan Shu's tender lips, smearing her bright red lipstick.

His warm, thin lips touched her ear. His gentle breath made her skin shiver, and his low, magnetic voice sounded softly. Nan Shu, however, felt as if she had fallen into an abyss.

"I have yet to repay the princess for her kindness to the Kingdom of Nan. How can you die?"

Lu Qing'an had once been held hostage in Nan. Because of his striking beauty, Nan Shu had forced him to become her lover.

She had treated him only with contempt, humiliation, and abandonment. What kindness could there have been?

Her hair was damp, her fragrant skin beaded with sweat, and the long night brought no sleep.

Lu Qing'an held Nan Shu tight in his arms, his face against the side of her neck. In a soft voice, he asked, "When you summoned me to your chambers all those years ago, were you in love with me, Princess?"

Nan Shu was silent.

Lu Qing'an's eyes instantly reddened. He pulled Nan Shu against him and said through clenched teeth, "It doesn't matter. From now on, you belong to me alone!"
