The Princess

Chu Yihuan, the youngest daughter of the emperor and empress, was born breathtakingly beautiful, with features as delicate as a painting. At eight, she received a unique title as a princess. At twelve, she was granted an estate of three thousand households. The noblewomen and young men of Chang'an had always considered winning her attention an honor. But her good fortune disappeared completely after Emperor Mingzong died. Her father had never officially announced her betrothal, and her fiance fell into a lake with her half-sister in full view of the public. The next day, her brother by the same mother, now emperor, arranged a marriage for her fiance. The bride was her half-sister. At the "ripe old age" of eighteen, Chu Yihuan once again became the talk of Chang'an. The praise heaped on her by the crowds turned into veiled mockery and scornful glances. A notorious young general coldly and insincerely proposes to her, bluntly admitting that he wants power. With nowhere left to retreat, Chu Yihuan accepts without hesitation and has her chief eunuch start looking for male companions that very night. The next day, Chu Yihuan writes the name "Li Pojun" on the imperial marriage edict left to her by the late emperor, making herself the future sister-in-law of her former fiance and half-sister. A royal drama becomes Chang'an's most unmentionable source of amusement. The men and women who once bowed and scraped before Chu Yihuan now all wait to laugh at her. They wait for Chu Yihuan to marry Li Pojun, then for Li Pojun to rise to the rank of Grand Marshal, and finally, for Chu Yihuan to rule the realm. This is a fictional setting. If you want the history and customs of a particular dynasty, you can move along. The heroine will ultimately ascend the throne. Theme: Stay positive
