The old emperor's youngest foolish son, the Fourteenth Prince, has come of age and must choose a fief. He turns down the fertile lands near the capital and instead chooses the desolate frontier in the far west: Liangcheng. Everyone shakes their heads and sighs. A fool is a fool, after all. Won't the barbarians kill him within three to five years of his arrival in Liangcheng? One year later. Liangcheng presents the emperor with watermelons: sweet, crisp, and beloved by everyone in the palace. Two years later. Liangcheng presents the emperor with corn: high-yielding and delicious. Everyone at court loves it. Three years later. Liangcheng crushes the barbarians and presents their captives before the imperial avenue. The people of Yan are exhilarated, and the army's morale soars. Four years later... Everyone calls the Fourteenth Prince, Ming Yu, a fool. What a pity! How sad! What a shame! Yu, a chubby little fellow who transmigrated here with a golden finger, simply chuckles. Just wait and see how a fool can farm and build his own domain. Thesis: Study hard and keep improving every day.
