When Wangxian were three years old, they were struck by a spell called A Dream of Yellow Millet. The spell was created by an immortal, and allows one's past self, or someone chosen by the immortal, to dream of the immortal's life. Since the spell is exceedingly powerful, those affected will forget the dream when they wake. However, if certain things in the dream leave a deep impression on them, they will still remember the people who made that impression and fragments of what happened. As long as their bodies are properly cared for while they are dreaming, they will wake without any problems. No matter how long their lives may be, they are guaranteed to wake after one month.
