He left, and she didn’t blame him;
he vanished without a word, and she didn’t blame him;
when the light faded from her eyes, when she felt she could no longer see a future, when the sails of her life suddenly went out of control, he chose to leave. She could bear not blaming him, though her heart filled with endless resentment.
What she couldn’t accept was that he had used lies and a carefully laid trap to make her fall without a trace.
She had always been an insignificant character, caught up in insignificant scenes in his life. Could she have just one honest moment, one chance to know what she was worth? Even if it hurt, even if it cut to the bone, could she at least understand where all that history belonged?
Perhaps she had already lost the right to ask, leaving only excuses meant to comfort her.
All she could do was stay silent, and then stay silent some more.
This is by a friend with a strong literary background. I’m posting it for her now and then. It’s an unfinished pit, so if you’re not patient, you’d better steer clear - -|||
