A soft girl with terrible taste but plenty of nerve * A seemingly gentle, but actually dark and obsessive man

Three years ago, Ruan Jiexiang married Cui Hao, the only son of the assistant magistrate of Jiangling County. Her husband was refined and courteous, and her in-laws were open-minded. At first, theirs seemed a happy match.

Unfortunately, after all these years of marriage, Ruan Jiexiang still showed no sign of pregnancy. Cui Hao comforted her, then turned around and took one concubine after another, but none bore him a child.

Seeing Cui Hao grow more despondent by the day, Madam Cui called Jiexiang to her and said, "I've heard that Jingci Temple in Jiangxia is especially effective for praying for a child. After the Qingming Festival, you and Cui Hao should set out for it."

Ruan Jiexiang agreed.

Once they arrived in Jiangxia, amid Cui Hao's gloom and grief,

Ruan Jiexiang finally realized that Madam Cui's instruction to "pray for a child" at the Buddhist temple was really a scheme to get her pregnant by another man.

With nowhere else to turn, Ruan Jiexiang had no choice but to conceal her identity and seduce a temple visitor.

Fortunately, he was handsome and dashing, with an easygoing, generous nature. He seemed like a man who never fussed over little things, so Ruan Jiexiang resorted to trickery and spent a night with him.

Then twice... and once more.

Just as she finally breathed a sigh of relief at the first sign of a pregnancy, he unexpectedly learned the truth...

While traveling south, Xie Huaiyuan met a bold woman who was very much to his liking.

Knowing she liked men who were generous and free-spirited, Xie Huaiyuan went out of his way to become the kind of man she preferred.

Who could have guessed that she had been deceiving him from start to finish? Xie Huaiyuan let out a silent, cold laugh.

If she had no regard for him, she could hardly blame him for showing her none.

Much later, after the Cui family divorced Ruan Jiexiang and kept her locked away in a secluded tower, where she saw no one from the outside, she finally realized how poor her judgment was, and how terrifying the man she had gotten involved with truly was.
