At a dinner party one day, someone got drunk and said, half teasing and half serious, that the atmosphere between them seemed a little strange, circling around to probe their relationship.
The others exchanged glances, their faces pinched as if constipated. They seemed speechless that someone could be so tactless as to say it so bluntly and gossip right in front of the people involved, yet they could not hide how much they wanted to gossip, either.
The people in question acted as if they had not noticed. Without much concern, he explained, "Your senior Nan is my niece."
Everyone found that a little odd, but did not think much of it. They chattered and changed the subject, and no one noticed Nan Ke's face darken in an instant.
It was only after the dinner ended and everyone had left that Nan Ke stared at Fei Junke, expressionless, for three seconds. Then she abruptly snatched up the phone on the table and swung it at his face. "Are you sick?"
"That's a lot of temper. Dear niece, was what your uncle said not the truth?"
Fei Junke tilted his head slightly and easily caught the phone she threw at him. Still wearing his usual nonchalant expression, he asked blandly, "Or should I have said, 'bed partner'?"

Later, the two ran into each other at a mutual friend's wedding banquet.
He was still the same handsome, wealthy young gentleman, surrounded by beautiful women, and did not spare her a single glance all evening.
Yet as the banquet came to an end, he pulled her into the shadows of the stairwell.
Their skin touched, their breaths mingled.
Someone called her name from the corridor.
"Your client really won't leave you alone," Fei Junke sneered. "Tell him to get lost."
