After Peipei dies, she transmigrates into a Western fantasy novel and is tasked with winning over the sickly, seemingly innocent but secretly scheming male supporting character in the heroine's adventuring party.
Unfortunately, this supporting character is neither the divine male lead nor the Demon King villain.
He has little magic and no talent. He's a complete weakling. The only thing he has going for him is humanity's trademark cunning: a sharp mind and a willingness to risk his life.
For the sake of his beloved heroine, he sells out himself and his teammates time and again. When Peipei is dragged into a swamp by a monster, he ignores her cries for help and leaves her to die.
In the swamp, Peipei sees the target of her affection kneeling before the heroine, reciting a knight's oath with something close to religious devotion.
The heroine lays her sword on his shoulder and accepts his earnest request.
Peipei sinks into the swamp and stops breathing.
Before she dies, Peipei thinks sadly,
This life has been way too pointless.
So she closes her eyes.
Of course, she doesn't see the frail human boy's eyes clear after she sinks beneath the swamp.
He plunges into the water, his body bent as if broken, unable to straighten, and cries her name in a hoarse voice.
His tears gush like a torrent. He gouges out his own eyes, and bloody tears mingle with the pouring rain.

Peipei never expected to survive.
She reloads her save as the beloved golden-haired, blue-eyed princess of an enemy nation. She is breathtakingly beautiful, noble, and the dazzling jewel of the empire.
As soon as she opens the door, she hears that the world outside has changed.
A human knight with no magic fell to darkness, rose to the throne in just a few years, and even invaded the divine realm.
And the Peipei of the past has become the "dead goddess's first and only love," a subject no one dares to discuss.
She often sees an inferior god wandering around in a frenzy, carrying a portrait and asking everyone he meets about it.
The girl in the portrait is innocent and sweet, with orange hair, blue eyes, and adorable little freckles.
When the god asks her about the girl, Peipei is drinking the milk tea she made herself in a greenhouse garden.
"Have you seen her?"
Peipei shakes her head and plays dumb. "I don't know her. Who is she?"
The young man says, "She's the only light in my life."
"What happened to her? Did she go missing?"
"No." The god is as wretched as a beggar.
"She's dead. I caused it."

A carefree, puppy-like heroine x a scheming, unhinged, ambitious young man
The male lead goes from human to demon to god.
Please note:
1. The heroine's name comes from the "Pelo" dog race in a certain card game.
2. As the blurb says, this is a regret-and-reconciliation story. The male lead will not be replaced.
3. The summary is a bit cheesy, but trust me, the story is good o.O. Please give the main text a try.
Theme: Friendship is a wonderful kind of magic.
