Lin Ling is a quick transmigration task-taker. After completing her final mission, she brings along the shop and portable space awarded by her System and takes over the body of a little girl who successfully disguised herself as a boy and joined the Kaifeng constabulary as a rookie officer. Now she has to clean up the huge mess the original owner left behind.

The System calls it: [Enjoying a Peaceful Retirement].

Lin Ling: Heh.

Kaifeng is a great place, full of talented people and handsome men.

And Lin Ling, with nearly every skill maxed out, shines brighter than anyone.

Every morning, she hears:

"Little Ling, go examine the third corpse. The coroner went home to see his wife."

"Little Ling, you're in charge of protecting the witness!"

"Little Ling, we've got a guest. Go make something delicious!"

"Little Ling, Lord Zhan is back. Hurry and go greet him!"

"Little Ling..."

Lin Ling becomes the busiest person in the Kaifeng Prefecture, and claims the top spot in popularity, even beating Zhan Zhao.

Naturally, Lin Ling ends up a corporate drone.

Lin the Corporate Drone: "What do I do? I want to quit."

Everyone: "Not a chance!"

The Imperial Guard Zhan, a beat behind, nods too. "Right, no chance."

Lin Ling: "..." Well, looks like she's just fated to work herself to the bone.

-------- The Male Lead's Perspective --------

Zhan Zhao has been a little troubled lately.

A young man has joined the Kaifeng Prefecture. He looks so fair and delicate, so soft and pretty, that he hardly seems manly at all.

As they spend time together, Zhan Zhao discovers that the kid is highly capable and truly talented.

So he looks after him and takes care of him at every turn, hoping to keep such a rare talent around.

But as the days pass, Zhan Zhao realizes his feelings for the young man have undergone a profound change...

And so, every day, besides protecting Lord Bao and fighting for justice, Zhan Zhao spends all his time thinking about one question:

"I seem to have fallen for a guy of the same sex. What do I do?"

Is the Zhan family line... going to die out?!!!

Lin Ling: "?"

A word of warning: The world where the heroine retires is a small world, not a historically accurate one. After all, the real historical record has no Zhan Zhao; he's a character from the Seven Heroes and Five Gallants novels. So even if the heroine does something that doesn't quite fit the course of history in this world, there's no meddlesome Heavenly Dao to interfere. This small world is the System's compensation to the heroine, a place where she can retire.

Also, the heroine is gorgeous! She looks handsome in men's clothes, and stunning in women's clothes!

The heroine isn't putting on an act or showing off. She's naturally overpowered!

1. A lighthearted Crime Solving story

2. Bai Zhantang has no love interest and is as free-spirited as the wind. Readers can adore him without worry.

3. Includes a System [not artificial intelligence, just a perk for quick transmigration task-takers, essentially a shop]

4. Includes Gourmet [the author is a foodie]

5. The heroine is very sweet!

6. There are male supporting characters, but they get hardly any screen time.
