After her eighteenth birthday, Alice gained a special ability: she could draw energy from the lies people around her told, then use that energy to make her own lies come true. Of course, the ability came with one limitation: she had to keep her eyes closed whenever she lied.
From then on, Alice became a human lie detector who kept her eyes closed while telling tall tales.
Obadiah Stane: "Tony, I've always thought of you as my son. I care about you." Alice: "He's lying."
Crossbones: "Hello, I'm an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." Alice: "He's lying."
Loki: "I will submit at your feet." Alice: "He's lying."
Moriarty: "I'm with the information department upstairs." Alice: "He's lying."
Then one day, a paragon of morality asked to meet with her privately and said he wanted to discuss a mission. Feeling the sudden surge of energy, Alice wondered: Should I call him out on it?
After they had "discussed the mission" several times, and she still hadn't received a confession, Alice finally decided to use her ability: "Alice has a boyfriend."
When she opened her eyes, he was standing before her. "Hello, Alice. I'm your boyfriend."
