"Yu Mou, can you see it?" Shi Nian lay on a makeshift chaise lounge made by lining up three little stools, pointing at the sky.
"See what?" Yu Mou lay down like Shi Nian, too, but the boy's long legs made him uncomfortable, so he had to get up and find another stool.
"The Milky Way! Can't you see it?" Shi Nian traced its path through the sky with her hand. "From here all the way over there... It's so beautiful!"
Yu Mou furrowed his brow. The stars in the countryside really were especially brilliant, but there was no Milky Way. Besides, in September, you couldn't see the Milky Way from the Northern Hemisphere.
Yu Mou didn't say, "I can see it," or, "That's impossible." Lying on the makeshift chaise lounge with his hands behind his head, he spoke with a smile in his voice, blending with the early autumn breeze. "Then tell me how beautiful it is."

Shi Nian often got lost in her own imagination.
And from childhood onward, the words she heard most often from Yu Mou were, "Tell me about it."

They hadn't been in touch for many years, but Shi Nian still often thought of Yu Mou, the boy who had patiently listened to her rambling. He wasn't her boy anymore. They were now worlds apart, each going their own way, and they hadn't seen each other since.
Until one day.
Shi Nian shared this apartment with a roommate. Her roommate had gone on a trip with her boyfriend, and Shi Nian had a business trip of her own, so there was no one at home to feed the cat. Her roommate said she'd found a kind person to come by and feed it: a friend of her boyfriend's, who had agreed to check on the cat once and take care of its food and litter.
Shi Nian returned to the apartment two days early. Things had gone smoothly, so she changed her flight. By the time she got home, it was already the middle of the night. Exhausted and sleepy, she took a quick shower and went straight to bed.
Early the next morning, Shi Nian heard rustling in the living room. She had just woken up and was terribly sleepy. Thinking her roommate had come back, she went out to look, yawning.
The man in the living room was flustered, clearly struggling to handle the clingy little cat.
Shi Nian saw his back and froze.
The man turned around and saw Shi Nian, bleary-eyed and still wearing a camisole nightgown. He froze, too.
