When Zhou Shuyu was studying for his graduate degree abroad, Jiang Yao saw a report about him on a domestic TV channel.
Young and accomplished, refined and handsome: those were his defining traits.
Two months after Zhou Shuyu returned to China, during Jiang Yao's winter break in her final year of high school, she pursued him relentlessly and finally won the heart of this gifted young man.
They dated briefly, until Jiang Yao finished her college entrance exams. After she gave herself to him, she dumped him with a breakup message.

Years later, they met again. Zhou Shuyu was now a famous forensic pathologist, elegant and distinguished in his suit as he slowly leafed through her medical records.
"Severe psychological problems. Think you're going to die?"
Jiang Yao: "..."
He handed her a business card. "Call me if you need anything. I'll provide my services for free, and examine your body myself."

Later, one night after they got back together, Jiang Yao became depressed over some little thing again. She lay on top of him, sobbing as she drummed the idea that "life isn't worth living" into him.
Even Zhou Shuyu's usually excellent temper finally snapped. He pulled her out from under the covers and loosely clasped her throat,
then deliberately threatened her in a cold voice:
"If you keep acting miserable in front of me, I won't mind strangling you and dissecting you myself to find out what's wrong with you."
The male lead's hobbies: Scaring Jiang Yao, scaring Jiang Yao, scaring Jiang Yao.
Then comforting Jiang Yao, comforting Jiang Yao, comforting Jiang Yao.
Both leads' first love, sweet romance, five-year age gap, reunited lovers.
Because of the male lead's profession, the novel contains some disturbing cases (reader discretion advised), but they won't take up much of the story.
