I Went Viral After Becoming an Honorary Denizen of the Underworld

Little star Ning Zhian has been stuck at the very bottom of the entertainment industry for years. Life is tough, so he decides to write some Mary Sue fiction for extra money.

Unexpectedly, he connects to the wrong site by accident, and his new story gets published on a strange website.

Ever since he started serializing his novel, Ning Zhian finds that his luck in the entertainment industry has suddenly improved.

The production team invites him to audition; brands pick him to be their spokesperson; even a small variety show he joins inexplicably becomes a hit.

The only downside is that he keeps running into ghosts.

A prop doll from the set appears beside his bed in the middle of the night; a little girl clinging to the back of a famous actress smiles at him; a red-clad ghost flashes past in the director's camera...

Then a ghost claiming to be Bai Wuchang comes to him in person: "Your work has become a huge hit in the underworld! The leaders of our Netherworld government are very pleased, and have specially sent me to bring you a reward!"

Bai Wuchang pulls out a golden pennant, glittering in the light. Its inscription reads:

- Honorary Citizen of the Underworld!

Ning Zhian: "??? Why are you insulting me?!"

And all the ghosts he runs into have been pestering him for updates!

Ning Zhian discovers that every ghost steers clear of the movie star Ji Zhaoran.

Terrified by all the ghosts, Ning Zhian finally loses patience one day and knocks on the actor's door.

"Teacher Ji, could I sit in your room for a while?"

Ji Zhaoran, movie star of the entertainment industry by secret identity and Ghost King of the Netherworld in his true form, looks at Ning Zhian's watery eyes (from being scared by ghosts) and the blush by his ear (from running away from them). His heart gives a gentle tug.

Ji Zhaoran's lips curve into a smile. "Of course."

A little bonus scene:

All the ghosts in the Netherworld know that Ghost King Ji Zhaoran once turned thousands of miles of Fengdu into scorched earth with a single hand.

Never provoke the Ghost King. It's something every ghost must remember before reincarnating.

Then one day, the ghosts of the Netherworld see that little star from the human world with his arms around Ji Zhaoran's neck, chiding him imperiously: "Ji Zhaoran, stop being so fierce with ghosts all the time. You need to learn to be friends with them."

Ji Zhaoran's kiss lands softly beside the little star's ear, and he casually summons a ghost.

"Starting today, this ghost and I are friends."

Ghost: "??? I wouldn't dare!"

Important: I'm not very good at writing, so this may well disappoint you. Feel free to stay or leave, and there's no need to let me know. Thanks.

I wrote this with abandon. It's not scary, qwq, and the logic isn't very good either =+=.

There are no real-life inspirations. This is essentially a supernatural story, and I'm not very familiar with the entertainment industry, so there may be factual errors. Please don't read if that bothers you.

If you spot any factual errors, feel free to point them out. As long as they don't affect the plot, I'll definitely correct them seriously.

Theme: Whether you're from the world of the living or the dead, be a good person.
