I Became the Emperor’s Dark Past

Born as the legitimate daughter of a powerful minister, Kou Lian should have enjoyed a life of wealth and honor. Instead, she gets a hard-mode run: her birth mother died young, her stepmother is vicious, her younger siblings are difficult, and her father couldn't care less. Then she's used as a pawn and married off to the foolish emperor. Everyone knows that the foolish emperor is a puppet controlled by Grand Tutor Kou, and will certainly be deposed within three years. Her stepmother and younger siblings mock her for living a miserable life. But they don't know that Kou Lian is a couch-potato empress who spends her days eating, drinking, playing, and having a perfectly comfortable time. Then one day, she dreams that she's been transported into a book. In the book, treacherous ministers hold sway. The male lead, the emperor, endures humiliation and pretends to be a fool. After several years, he finally purges the court and takes power, while wiping out the entire family of the treacherous minister. When she wakes, Kou Lian, daughter of a treacherous minister, looks at the emperor's "innocent, foolish" face. She remembers all the "evil deeds" she's committed over the past six months: teasing him, pinching his cheeks, tricking him into wearing little skirts. Then she recalls the book's tragic ending, where the empress is executed with a cup of poisoned wine. Kou Lian makes a snap decision and runs away. Little scene: Emperor: Why hasn't the empress come yet today? Palace attendant: Your Majesty, the empress is missing! Emperor: !!! She left you a letter, and a little golden statue, too. Emperor: ??? The Oscars owe you a little golden statue. Her Highness is giving you one today! An unconventional, sweet little story about chasing your wife after a breakup.
