Not-quite-incest
An older brother who thinks he's straight and a sensitive younger brother with mental health issues, about a year apart in age.
Blurb:
His dry lips parted slightly. His eyes were half-closed as he leaned in the chair by the window, his head tilted back against the hospital's white wall. Another person sat beside him, holding the hand resting on the armrest and gently squeezing it over and over.
A nurse carried a tray of medicine over from the dispensary and opened the window as she passed, letting the steady patter of rain drift in. "After you go home, make sure your younger brother stays in a good state of mind. Generally speaking, it shouldn't happen again."
A faint sting as the needle went in touched Luo Zhu Yi's nerves. He stiffened his neck and stared down at the injection site. A little blood flowed back into the syringe, then the medicine running through it pushed it back. He stretched out the arm receiving the injection, and his eyes no longer seemed as alert as before.
The two of them sat like that. Wei Nan squeezed Luo Zhu Yi's hand. "We'll go home in a bit, okay?"
The medicine dripped into the chamber, then flowed into his veins. Drip... drip... At some point, the rain outside had stopped. Sunlight slowly parted the thick clouds and streamed through the window bars, shining into the medicine bottle before refracting onto Luo Zhu Yi's cheek, eyebrows, and eyelids. The shifting spots of light reflected in Du An's pupils. He seemed to come alive again, as if a soul had been stirred to life within him.
"Let's go home."
The voice was soft, but Wei Nan abruptly turned around and covered Luo Zhu Yi's hand with both of his. He had heard him.
"Okay, let's go home!"
