In the waning years of the Northern Wei, snow blanketed the Chilie River plain.
The Son of Heaven had lost the Mandate of Heaven, and the royal way had fallen into decline. The ruler was controlled by a woman, shutting his ears to counsel as he sat enthroned in the grand hall. His ministers failed to perform their duties, and corruption, lawlessness, and ostentatious extravagance became the fashion.
The common people labored until their bodies gave out, only to die of hunger by the roadside. Soldiers defended their homes and country, yet grew old without ever being rewarded. Natural disasters struck, bandits flourished, and war never ceased. For decades, bones burned into hills and rivers ran red with blood, while the people suffered in misery.
In that time, a shepherd took up arms, a courier raised his voice, and great clans rose together to contend for supremacy. Beneath the Great Green Mountain, who would become a prince or general? Who would be remembered for a hundred generations?
The moon hid, the stars fell, a giant wolf howled, and dragons battled in the wilderness.
Theme: Telling history in the form of a novel
It's quite attractive to me, but it's not suitable for serialization in JJ. It doesn't suit the taste of most JJ readers.
