How to Tame a Demon

The lamb stumbled as she fled.

Clouds veiled the moonlight. Despairing, she wept, frightened and timid, like a delicate rose tossed about by the night’s downpour.

“Help me.”

Her eyes were rimmed with red, her soft lips parting and closing.

“Help me. Anyone, please, come help me.”

And so darkness truly descended upon the world. A demon heard the desperate voice of a human.

It rose from its throne and went to stand beside its prey, who had nowhere left to run.

A delicious soul. A rare, fine catch.

So the demon thought.

Its lamb knelt on the ground. It could not see her eyes.

Tear tracks still marked the girl’s face as she parted her rosebud lips and gasped for breath.

But beneath the curtain of her black hair, her eyes were dark and sinister.

Their hollow, lifeless gleam was like that of a venomous snake.

[A snake with its eyes fixed on its prey, ready to strike without hesitation.

Cold, patient, and brimming with desire.]

[The snake is about to close its net.]
