How to Keep My Unscientific Secret Identity Under Wraps

[Completely rewritten; the novel officially launches in June]

The main story is told in third person, with maximum chuuni energy. No one blows their cover, and it contains lots of rabid dogs and one-sided crushes.

I was an ordinary person who had lived an ordinary life for over twenty years beneath the bright red glow of science. I thought the next few decades would pass just as ordinarily. But I never expected that one day a panel no one else could see would suddenly appear in my field of vision, displaying all kinds of strange... "creatures" every day?

As a rational adult, my brain tells me not to let curiosity make me do something stupid and touch them. This is bound to deal an irreversible blow to my peaceful life.

But this cold world tells me that running away is shameful and useless.

Right now, I have three pairs of pure white wings behind me, and every time I smile, holy light shines down. I am filled at all times with compassion for all living things. That would be bad enough, but I used to have no ambitions and just wanted to make it safely to retirement age. Now all I can think about is how to bring about world peace, end all conflict, and build a better society...

And on top of that...

I swallow uneasily. My body's instincts tell me that the human in front of me is a delicious meal on my menu...

"An angel! An angel has come to save us!"

Don't see a bird person with wings and assume they're an angel! I really can't control my drooling anymore!

_(:з"∠)_ As the least scientific being in this scientific world, I'm under so much pressure. I've reminded myself ten thousand times that I have to keep my mouth in check. Even if I'm expelled from the human race, I mustn't give up on treatment!!!

We praise the aberrant. We praise ignorance.

We are a flock of sheep being led. We are believers laid upon the altar.

We are willing. We trap ourselves in our own cocoons.

So, our beloved god, be as indifferent and cruel as you wish;

But please keep watching us, always, always, always.

Theme: May every soul shine forever.
